Big Idea

A faithful shepherd cares for God’s people, serves with the right heart, models Christ with his life, and remains close to Jesus—the Chief Shepherd.

Brief Sermon Summary

In 1 Peter 5:1–4, Peter reminds pastors that the church belongs to God and that pastoral ministry is a sacred trust. A faithful shepherd is called to CARE for the flock with compassion, SERVE willingly rather than for recognition, and MODEL Christ through a godly life.

The Care Pastor is not called merely to hold a position, but to walk closely with God’s people—comforting the hurting, strengthening the weak, pursuing the wandering, and pointing everyone toward Jesus. Yet the pastor must always remember that he is only an under-shepherd. Jesus is the Chief Shepherd.

Therefore, the pastor’s greatest responsibility is not only to stay close to the sheep, but to stay even closer to the Shepherd.

CARE for His flock. SERVE with His heart. MODEL His life. Keep your eyes on the Chief Shepherd.
