Faith in the In-Between
In Exodus 16, Israel finds themselves in the in-between—delivered from Egypt but not yet in the Promised Land. In this wilderness season, their hunger exposes their hearts as they grumble and complain, revealing a lack of trust in God. Yet, instead of abandoning them, God provides manna daily, teaching them to depend on Him one day at a time. However, many receive God’s provision without allowing it to transform them, resulting in disobedience, testing God, and hardened hearts.
This passage shows us that the in-between is not just a place of waiting; it is a place of testing, formation, and transformation.
BIG IDEA:
God builds trust one day at a time in seasons of daily dependence, but how we respond in the in-between determines whether our hearts are transformed or hardened.
