Guarding the True Gospel
Study Summary
This Bible study examines three common distortions of the gospel in American Christianity: the Prosperity Gospel (which equates faith with material blessing), the Therapeutic Gospel (which centers on personal fulfillment and emotional comfort), and the Moralistic Gospel (which bases salvation on good behavior and rule-keeping). By examining key biblical passages, we see that each of these teachings shifts the focus away from Christ’s finished work on the cross and places it on human comfort, feelings, or performance.
Big Idea:
There is only one true gospel — salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone — and any message that centers on wealth, self-fulfillment, or moral achievement is a distortion of the cross.
This study calls believers to discernment, humility, and a renewed commitment to guard and proclaim the pure gospel of Jesus Christ.
