New Life Begins Here (John 3:1-8)

May 6, 2026    Rev. Chonfong Paul Yang

In John 3:1–8, Jesus has a powerful conversation with Nicodemus, a respected Pharisee and religious leader. Although Nicodemus was knowledgeable in Scripture and devoted to religion, Jesus explained that no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless they are “born again.” Jesus was not speaking about physical birth, but spiritual rebirth through the Holy Spirit.

Jesus teaches that salvation is not achieved through good works, religion, or human effort. Instead, true transformation comes when the Holy Spirit gives new life to a person through faith in Christ. Just as the wind is invisible yet powerful, the work of the Spirit cannot always be seen directly, but its effects are evident in a changed life.

Big Idea

A person cannot enter the Kingdom of God through religion or human effort; only through spiritual rebirth by the Holy Spirit can someone receive new life in Christ.

Key Application

Believers are called to live in the new life God gives through the Holy Spirit, walking daily in faith, obedience, and spiritual transformation.
