Zeal for God's House

In John 2:12–25, the selling of cattle, sheep, and pigeons, along with the work of moneychangers, represented the entire sacrificial system—costly devotion, atonement for sin, and access to worship. While these practices were originally meant to help people worship God, they had become corrupted into a system of profit and convenience. Jesus cleanses the Temple to restore its true purpose and to reveal that He Himself is the ultimate sacrifice and the true Temple. No longer is access to God found through transactions, but through a relationship with Christ.
Big Idea
True worship is not about religious transactions but about a transformed heart centered on Jesus, who is our ultimate sacrifice and access to God.
